A big issue that is arising in Twitter is all the spammers & hackers, just like myspace a while ago- they are tweeting the weirdest things or sending DM’s to people, here’s my advice how to get rid of them or try not to get them to hack YOU…

First things first, avoid clicking on ANY links on twitter that you are not sure about.

Second, avoid tweets that says that they can get you 500 followers, or anything close to that. I try to avoid those quizzes or polls all together.

LOL.. I am not sure. I can log in & all but of course I do not get any updates. Earlier this morning I saw a tweet about how someone said he lost all his followers & those he was following… then it happened to me. I noticed my tweetdeck wasn’t updating & logged on, & whaaaalaaa- So take it easy- I’m sure it’ll be a while but thought Id update here.

Whenever you may have a questions about Twitter.. check here- I may have updated the blog with whats going on over there. Thanks

I have added a couple new links to the Link section to the far right.  Please take advantage of them.

I will update them to the Twitter Link page above soon.

I’d like to thank Shari from TDW for sending me some of those links.

I have been inspired by Shari over at TDW to sit & write this & I hope the word gets out.

Twitter has become a “social networking” site very quickly & what is everyone’s obsession about it? The Celebrities.

We can all admit that we are groupies somehow someway. We want to know what our beloved celeb is doing, even if they arent one of our favorite & they are on Twitter, we’ll follow. Just to know more about them or just to be nosy, whatever the reason is- we’re following them.

As I have said before, Bethany doesnt have a twitter & Shari over at TDW.com has also been told that Bethany Joy doesnt have a twitter & doesnt intend in getting one. The ONLY place to get updates will be through her website.

Looks like it JUST went down (1PM SHARP!)… not even my Tweetdeck is working. Let me know if anyone else is having issues!?!

Thanks.

The Twibbon revolution has begun. I started seeing people with little cool ribbons, or things on their Twitter avatar & found Twibbon.com. I soon found out I am following one of the people who desgins them, so I asked for her to create a couple for One Tree Hill. So she has & she has shared them with us & go ahead & follow her if you’d like or pass by & say thanks. @Ddubs_Sancha

Here are a couple of designs she’s made for us, click on the one you want & it will take you to the site & tell you how to add them.

* New

As more are created I will post them. Thanks @Ddubs_Sancha for all your help & creativity.

Found this through a Tweet this morning, Thought it was worth posting

1. You find yourself thinking in 140 characters or less, even at dinner when you’re listening how to shorten down someones sentences that may be funny to others

2. Your spouse has pamphlets circling around on how to handle a “Twittervention”

3. You are a walking thesaurus of Twitter acronyms – HT’s, RT’s, WTF’,s FTW!

4. You have RSS feeds set up keeping you plugged in to @garyvee, @scobelizer & @techcrunch’s real time tweets so you don’t miss a “sniffy sniff, a “WHO are YOU?” or a Crunchie update

5. Your spouse sends you DM’s on what to bring home for dinner – email just isn’t fast enough anymore

6. You insist all business meetings are now called “Tweetups”

7. Fail Whales require therapy and hives break out at the thought of not being connected to your followers

8. Your Rolodex now has handwritten Twitter usernames on peoples business cards

9. Referring to people in public as “@ their name” slips out regularly and goes uncorrected

10. You have designated times when twittering is ok with your spouse (mine is when the kids are asleep and my work for the day is done LOL)

11. You find yourself pitching Twitter any chance you get, to friends, family and…anyone that will listen

12. In the middle of a heated debate you’ve actually wondered if you can Unfollow & Block the person standing in front of you

13. You suddenly become a Suns fan because @the_real-shaq gave you a follow…even though you are a die hard Lakers Fan

14. You have so many followers you have categorized your community into 30 columns on tweetdeck and when new followers add you, you break out into a cold sweat as to what column to put them in

15. When your spouse joins Twitter he or she has to explain their case as to why you should intro them by way of a “please follow” to your followers

16. You spring awake in the middle of the night with a great new Twitter word to share with the “Tworld”

17. Instead of checking email at 3am when you can’t sleep, you are frantically checking your @replies in case someone gave you a re-tweet or sent you an “@” reply

18. Although you have never met 90% of your followers you are more touched they sent you an e-card for the holidays than an immediate family member

19. Your emails are starting to creep down to only 140 characters…OR LESS

20. You custom built a tool off of Twitters API to notify you the second your boss starts following you on Twitter so you can instantly block him or her

To your Twitter Avatar. Thanks to one of my followers/Im following @Ddubs_Sancha, she has gone out of her way to create some really cute OTH “Twibbons” for us over at Twibbon. Here’s a couple examples:

twitterProfilePhoto.jpg twitterProfilePhoto1

If you would like to add one to your avatar, here’s what you do:

Go to Twibbon.com, look for the “find” tab or the search on the right side, input One Tree Hill, & there should be 5 of them for now. Choose the one you want & then input your twitter information (Dont worry, they DONT spam your account!), then click “Show my support now”.

They will retweet your support & add the “ribbon” to your Twitter Icon/Avatar.

Have Fun!

If anyone else can create one, let me know I will add your name to the list as well, just make sure you tag it with One Tree Hill.

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

For some time, the follower and following counts we display have been incorrect for some folks. We’re soon to push a change that will address this issue. This means that the count you see in your sidebar should match what you see on your follower and following pages.

However, a consequence of this change is that follower counts will drop for some people. In particular, those with large followings may see significant changes as we correct for spam accounts and data inconsistencies. No legitimate followings should be affected—we’re just cleaning up artifacts in the system.
